All Vietnamese people know about Bach Dang war of General Tran Hung Dao. And in Ha Long Bay, there is a place that almost recreates the entire battle scene, which is the Kim Quy Cave.
Kim Quy Cave in Ha Long Bay
Kim Quy Cave is located on Nam Dam Islet. In front of the cave is the Rocky Mountain, behind is Soi Sim island. The cave is 100m long and 5-10m wide, extending north-south. A small road leads tourists up to a chamber where four seasons full of water and stalactites. At the end of the cave, tourists can see more than 30 wooden stakes of Tran Hung Dao used to plug into the Bach Dang River existing in this place. These are actually stalagmites, which are distributed everywhere thickly and look just like stakes.
Nowadays, come to Kim Quy cave, tourists can find a block of stone which is believed to be petrified body of the tortoise.
